Getting clever about knowledge

The actKM knowledge management forum is proud to announce that it will hold actKM 10 will be held on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th of October at University House, Australian National University (ANU) Canberra, Australia.

Cost will be held at the very affordable price of $690 per person or $590 pp for a team of five, representing the best value for money KM conference available.

In 2007, actKM was recognised by Straits Knowledge as having run one of the best km conferences in the region and the accolades were again forthcoming for 2008 and 2009.  However, we cannot rest on our laurels and we need to look at how we can improve on that for 2010.

The theme for this year is ‘Getting Clever about Knowledge’, relating to the question of how can organisations improve the way in which they generate and manage new knowledge. It is estimated that 40 exabytes (4.0 x 10
19) will be generated worldwide this year. That is more than the information generated in the previous 5,000 years.

“An organization’s ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly, is the ultimate competitive advantage.” - Jack Welch

Most of our effort has traditionally been in managing the overwhelming volumes of information that flood organisations daily.  Perhaps our efforts should be focused on generating new knowledge and seeking better ways to generate value from an organisation’s intellectual capital.

Keynote presenters

Our call for papers has gone out and we are looking forward to an innovative spread of presenters and facilitators.  Following the outstanding success of actkm08, we are pleased to have David Gurteen back with us again.

actKM Knowledge Management Awards

In 2010, actKM will once again judge and award prizes to organisations or individuals that have made significant achievements in organisational capability, performance or sustainability through the application of knowledge-based projects or activities. Organisations or individuals who believe that they may have a potential for a submission, should register an expression of interest as early as possible with the the actKM convenor at:

The program for the conference is now available and we have amassed an eclectic array of fascinating presenters that will once again make the actkm conference the premier KM event.

Why not print out our conference flyer and pin it up on the noticeboard. Or, for you consultants, pin it on a client's. Take a photo of you, the flyer, and the noticeboard, bring it to the conference, and perhaps get less of a hard time from other attendees.

We will be awarding a prize for the person who brings a photo of the most amount of people in front of our actkm 2010 flyer on their notice board. So get cracking.

Registrations are now available. Download a copy of the registration form (also available in pdf) and return it via post, fax, or email.
